Fly High with a Sunrise Balloon Flight in Melbourne
Melbourne is a lovely city, always; but when you are able to see it at sunrise from the vantage point of a hot air balloon flight you will experience it in its full splendour. The Yarra River meandering through the city, past the Australian Open Tennis Centre, the massive MCG, the light reflecting on its modern buildings, the many parks and gardens so beautifully kept…Melbourne proves time and time again why it so often is voted the most liveable city in the entire World and a balloon flight with LIBERTY BALLOON FLIGHTS at Sunrise is surely the way to start a memorable day.
Sunrise Flights
Magical balloon flights over Melbourne take place regularly at sunrise, which is the safest and most awe-inspiring time of day. At sunrise, the landscape slowly comes to life as we drift along, held in a timeless capsule away from the bustle of the city.
Where We Fly
Melbourne is a lovely city, always; but when you are able to see it at sunrise from the vantage point of a balloon flight you will experience it in its full splendour. Seeing the Yarra River meander through the city, past the Australian Open Tennis Centre, the massive MCG, the many parks and gardens so beautifully kept, and the sunlight twinkle off the windows of the modern buildings will stay with you for your entire life. Liberty Balloon Flights will provide you with a beautiful sunrise flight in city airspace to give you the most picturesque views of Melbourne the day can offer.
After assessing the wind and weather conditions of the day, we decide each morning which of our many launch sites is our best option on the day. We might take off from Williamstown and drift over the city to land in parks close to the Eastern Freeway, we could take off from Albert Park and fly towards Essendon or Northcote, we could sometimes take off from Moorabbin and land at Royal Park…the options are countless.
We Care
Your happiness is our business, and we make sure you have fun while enjoying the spectacular aerial views. We take your well-being during your time with us and in our balloon seriously. Our team reviews key details with you before your flight in our safety briefing to ensure that you understand what will take place during the ride. While you are in the air, one of our vehicles follows us on the ground through visual and radio contact to meet us at our landing site, help us pack the balloon away and then drive us back to our original meeting point. If you have any hesitations, please let us know so we can help alleviate your doubts.
Our Experience
Our Chief Pilot has flown over 100 cities across the world and now uses his decades of experience to cultivate the most beautiful hot ballooning experience in Australia. All our pilots are trained to direct their balloons to give you the best views imaginable.
What Happens on the Day of the Flight!
A day you shall never forget.
The evening BEFORE the flight, between 06:30 and 07:30 p.m. you need to call 1800-BALLOON (1800-22 55 66) to make sure your flight is going ahead. You will either talk to your pilot or a recorded message will tell you what to expect the following morning.
If the weather is suitable, we will meet at the Sofitel Hotel on 25 Collins Street as stated in your confirmation email, approximately one and a half hours before Sunrise. Yes, this is EARLY, especially in late Spring and early Summer when we can sometimes meet as early as 04:15 A.M. Our aim is to be in the air before Sunrise, not only to see the sunrise from a balloon over Melbourne but also because this is the safest moment of the day to fly, it is when the winds tend to be at their calmest. Our vehicles will drive you to our selected launch site where we proceed to inflate the balloon with the help of any passengers that are able and willing to participate in the preparations…this is meant to be fun and interesting. These gentle giants are MASSIVE and seeing them take shape as we first inflate them with cold air, later to heat the air with our powerful burners, is a lovely sight and experience, one which followers are welcome to come and watch as well.
Once all passengers are on board and after a short safety briefing, we will lift off and drift in the wind for approximately one hour, give or take, as the pilot will have to manoeuvre the winds at different heights to land the balloon in one of the many locations we are allowed to land on. Our vehicle will be following us during the whole flight. After we have landed, together with willing passengers, we proceed to pack the balloon away and we will drive you back to our original meeting place where you can enjoy an optional five-star champagne breakfast, truly the best way to finish your morning with us.
